• The blue Whale has a big heart. The size of a family sized car!
• The fluke is broad and triangular.
• People hunted the blue whale.

Think of the largest thing you've ever seen in your life. It might have been a sky scraper, maybe a big tree. But that’s almost nothing compared to the ocean and the the ocean is the care taker of the largest mammal on earth, the Blue Whale. It could possibly be the largest animal ever!

Blue whales got there name because of their color, a blue-gray.

On average they are 70-90 ft. long.

The largest known Blue whale was 108 ft. long!

They can weigh more than 100 tons.

Blue whales can be found migrating all over the world.

Mother whales hold their calves for around 12 months before giving birth.

Calves are  23-27 ft. long after birth.

They eat 4 tons of shrimp and krill every day.

Calves gain around 200 pounds a day or 8 pounds an hour.

Sadly in the 1900's they were hunted for their oil. they would be shot with a harpoon and filled with air so they wouldn't sink.

They held about 120 barrels of oil.

Finally in 1996 hunting Blue whales was illegalized all over the world, but by that time 99% of them were gone.

Now there is 5,000-10,000 Blue Whales  in the southern hemisphere and only 3,000-4,000 in the northern hemisphere.

The physical characteristics of a blue whale are it’s the largest mammal on the earth ever and is possibly the largest animal to ever exist. A blue whale is super long. An adult is up to 108 ft. long. The blue whale is blue-ish grey in color. Its head is one fourth of its entire body. During the summer it can eat up to 40 million krill a day. 40 million of krill is 4 tons. When a calf is born it gains up to 200 pounds a day when it's nursing.
The blue whale was hunted for its skin. To make purses for people. they also hunted them for lotion or sun screen. It was also hunted for its oil. They were hunted with spears hooks and harpoons. A harpoon is a gun that shoots out spears. They would pump the whale with air and blow it up so that it couldn't sink. gross!!!
Blue whales mean a lot to me because my first toy was a blue whale. I loved it so much. It had a fish in its mouth. blue whales are so interesting. How it's so large yet so peaceful. The ocean freaks my Mom so I'd love to see her meet a blue whale face to face! You would hear underwater bubbly gurgled screams echoing across the globe! But, do you know who would be more scared? The blue whale.

 Can you imagine his excitement?

Oh how his heart is thumping in his chest!

 He immediately thinks of the possibilities.

 

An amazing bib.

 

A lovely skirt to keep his loins protected.

 

And don't forget how it can warm the boys shoulders.

 

The boy and his remnant piece of afghan could spend countless hours together

rocking on the front porch.

 

The other boys in the neighborhood will be so jealous

when they see him in his new Shrug!

 

And what about a scarf? 

 

The boy will never have to worry about sun damage. Ever again.

 

 The boy now has Mild protection while defeating foes.

90's wedding dresses!

OMG!!! My mom is the biggest dork in the WHOLE WORLD!!!

When she was around 8 years old

she fell in love with the idea,

of getting married! 
This came out in the 90's and it is SCARY!!!

Orphans!

My crazy Sisters make me laugh!

Today driving home from school a very funny conversation was going on in the back seat, Haley asked, "Hayden, whats an orphan?" and Hayden replied, "a person with no parents to take care of them." So Haley thinks for a minute then says, "you mean like a dwarf?"

After an even longer pause Sophie says,"Oh Man! I'm not an orphan!!?"
